Nietzch Quote of the Day

“Not necessity, not desire – no, the love of power is the demon of men. Let them have everything – health, food, a place to live, entertainment – they are and remain unhappy and low-spirited: for the demon waits and waits and will be satisfied.”    – Friedrich Nietzsche

{Hungry Heart}{Thirsty Mind}

1. Take a few minutes to let loose! Sing at the top of your lungs!  Scream out your frustrations! Cry out our sorrows! Do this will all your might – Whatever your emotion be that moment – let it out in it’s fullness, all of it, all at once – with ALL YOUR MIGHT! Enable the tears with a sad song, take a stroll down memory lane, pull up lyrics on your blackberry to the song playing. Make your self laugh, smile until your cheeks hurt – honestly, just go crazy!

Although just temporary ,this is reduce your stress 10 fold – and you’ll return to your life feeling an inner calmness that will allow you to be more of your true self.

You will This step requires you to be totally secluded – I’d say on a mountain top, but in this day and age I think a car…

Favorite Sayings

Today has made me think of a few sayings that my father has always said, and continues to say. They’ve stuck with me for years, and I have thought of and used them so many times. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to pass them on to my children if I ever have any. Read into them, think about them. Although they are colorful, they make sense if you think about them.

I’ve been shot at and missed, shit at and hit.

You better get your shit in one sock.

If not for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

That’ll put your nuts in your watch pocket.

Those are just a few. They perfectly fit the way things have gone for me today. Stay thirsty my friends.

Life

Life is too short not to focus on the things that truly matter. There are many important things in ever ones life, all ranking differently according to different people. But, the core significant matters should never be subdued or shadowed by the things of trivial importance. My generalized list of things that should be taken to heart often get overlooked or neglected by the trivial things, so I have to remind myself of the things that are truly are most important to me. It has taken many hard times, many lonely nights, and many long walks to ponder upon this, so here it goes.

1. Never underestimate someones love for you. Appreciate it, accept it, and hold on to it for as long as you can. One day, it won’t be there anymore. You will miss it when it’s gone. Don’t take it for granted, and be thoughtful when dealing and speaking to those that you love. Treat them right.

2. Tell those you love that you love them as much as you can, even if you annoy them with it. We all fall short when it comes to actions, but we should never all short on letting our loved ones know that we love them with our words. Family, significant others, and friends should never have to wonder if we love them due to our lack of words. Tell them often, because tomorrow is never guaranteed. You don’t want them to not know if they, or you, weren’t around tomorrow to tell them.

3. Enjoy the simple things. The way the sun shines on a particular spot, how it can look coming through an opening in the clouds at that perfect moment, the smell of the woman you love, or a smell that triggers a good memory. We get so caught up in this life we live with the complexities of everyday bullshit. Who’s doing what with whomever, did so and so do or say such and such, did the utility bill get there on time, and so on. When these things cloud your thoughts and your feelings, stop, and enjoy the simple things.

4. Enjoy and appreciate the things you have instead of wasting your thoughts and wishing for the things you don’t have, will never have, or will never have again. This is a particularly hard one for me to practice because the past can be so haunting. Wishful thinking can fog my mind as well. Enjoy what you have because it could be gone tomorrow, too.

5. Keep in mind that laughter is good for the soul, and crying is good for the heart. No matter who you are, life is full of ups and downs. Laughing and crying can get you through most of them. No matter where I am, or what’s going on in life, I remember to laugh at least once a day. It helps you tell yourself subconsciously that everything is going to be alright. Even if it’s not alright, the sun is still going to rise, water will still be wet, and the world is going to keep on turning. So lighten up. When it comes to crying, I have to say that I am a fan. At time the blessing of life can seem like a burden. Pent up emotions weigh heavily on one’s heart, so let them out. A good cry can work miracles.

It's a New Day...

Day 71 Question 71:

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

Sometimes I just want to slow down.  I am at a stage in my life where I truly have acceptance and love for the person that I am.  It has taken me a LONG time to get here but now that I am here I am never leaving.  I embrace change…I actually love change because it allows you to step outside of your comfort zone and really grow.  I believe change is necessary in order for people to keep learning and thriving.

When it comes to change I believe we should hold onto our morals and values and all of those things that make us who we are.  I have been raised to be polite and have grown to be compassionate and those are two things I will never ever change about myself.  Change runs…
